Modern Farmhouse in Johannesburg’s concrete jungle

Modern Farmhouse in Johannesburg’s concrete jungle

2021 has started off with a project for an incredibly special client of mine. The home is in the middle of Johannesburg which was a stable now converted into two homes. The original watchtower remains which is my favourite part of the home as this adds that piece of history which can always turn a good project into a great one.

Part 1 of the refurbishment is the ground floor which consists of multiple areas such as a guest bedroom, guest bathroom, foyer, two lounges and a dining area. To me this is a “pinch me” project as any interior that has even the slightest farm style element really inspires me. Touches of natural finishes and materials will be used throughout the areas paying homage to the South African culture. I might be biased but I think Africa has some of the most amazing local artists and furniture stores which I will be including in the design.

2020 has shown us all, that it is imperative to shop and support local and that is exactly what I am going to be implementing in my projects this year and beyond. I hope you all follow along on this local project of mine and future projects to come in Dubai and abroad.
